This allows detection of items that are not detectable or not resolvable by smaller devices. Shipping Container with an unlikely MANIFEST or suspicious origin: Does it contain a shielded cache of Cesium, Uranium, Sr90 for a Dirty Bomb or Plutonium, or suitcase Nuke.   A Coast Guard cutter is cruising the harbor, stops to look at a suspicious boat, but does not have time to board and search. The RAD-ID-W saves time. In most cases, it can eliminate the need to conduct lengthy inspections and searches to find the presence of radioactivity.   An inspector doing his/her job approaches a vehicle, a shipping container, a package, a shed, which might contain radioactive material. Because of RAD-ID-W's high sensitivity an external scan is usually sufficient.

Now if the inspector does not have the RAD-ID-W he/she must: Must file and get authorization to enter and search the area or container. Find the owner to gain access or break the locks. Get one or more co-workers to help as a witness, or for security, and for technical expertise. Use radiation detector to do a detailed search of contents of building, container, vehicle, etc... Highly Sensitive optional Neutron Detector gives warning and confirmation that fissionable materials are present.

Optional: Shielding and collimator allows improved directional measurements and measurements at a distance. Even without collimator, RAD-ID-W gives higher count rate when it is pointed at the target.
