DESCRIPTION: Model SAAM-3 Filter
Tape Alpha Air Monitoring System is a line operated continuous duty
long period air monitor which automatically integrates over preset
period and prints results. It incorporates an alarm as well as hard
copy. The electronic system is completely modular. Standard configuration
reads gross alpha less radon and daughters. Has plug in capacity for
one or more channels of specific radiation energies, e.g., Pu-239,
U-238, etc.
In practice this system draws air through a section
of a filter tape for a sufficient period to achieve the sensitivity
desired and measures the activity on the taper after a predetermined
elapsed time;usually four hours. The system utilizes a high capacity
pump and dwell times in the order of four hours. Sensitivity is achieved
in the order of 0.1% of the most restrictive airborne contamination
standard.
APPLICATION: Model SAAM-3 Monitor
is used for monitoring effluent from radioactivity utilizing or producing
facilities either directly at the stack or other outlet or at the
property boundary. It may be left unattended for period up to 45 days
furnishing a complete record of activity for the period and alarms
should preset limit be exceeded.
OPTIONS
Single Channel Analyzer window(s) specifically for
PU-239, and U-238 and/or other nuclides.
Clock and calendar to give printed date and time of each reading.
Calibration module(s) to allow readout directly in µCi/cc
or cps/m3 or other units.
Integrate modules to average results over an eight hour, or
24 hour interval.
