MODELS:
The STAM-2 Alpha Scintillation system combines a modified PAS-8 Alpha Scintillation Probe plus TM-2 Detector stand and drawer system for sample containment. In this detection system, the protective ring and grill normally included in the PAS-8 when same is used as a free probe, is deleted to enhance sensitivity to alpha radiation. The STB-3 Beta-Gamma GM System substitutes a modified P-11 Pancake probe for the alpha scintillation detector. It also deletes the protective aluminum grill normally included in the probe to increase sensitivity to low energy Betas. The sensitivity of the STAM-2 to 5 MeV Alphas is typically 80-85% of 2 pi. It is completely insensitive to Betas and Gammas. Background is typically less than one count per minute. The sensitivity of the STB-3 to Betas of energy 60 KeV and up ranges from 30% to 100% of 2 pi depending on energy of beta and backing material. Background is typically 30-50 counts/minute. Sample cavity is 2-1/16'' diameter x 3/8'' deep. |
